Teck Okanagan Cup Fun

The Training Centre made a quick trip to Kamloops for the Teck Okanagan Cup on Saturday, February 16.  Similar to the BC Cup in Kelowna, this event is critical for the Centre to build a network of support in BC by providing motivation to the young junior skiers (and some masters) and also for the athletes to learn more about the great province they've chosen to train in.

The trip was fantatstically fun and provided some good results for the team.  The Junior Men category was 100% CVTC athletes, so they  "swept" the top five places.  Sebastien Dandurand took the win over Colin Ferrie, an excellent result for somebody who is only in his first year of classic ski racing.  Dandurand was a Nordic Combined athlete until last year, so is relatively new to classical skiing and racing.

The Open Men category saw CVTC athletes in the top four positions with Geoffrey Richards taking the win over Martin Schrama.  This is one of Martin's best results of the season and hopefully an indicator of good things to come.

The team travelled back to Whistler after the event on Sunday and will be starting their journey to Grand Prairie for Western Canadian Championships on Wednesday.
