2013 Ski Nationals - Day 4

Sebastien Dandurand claimed another bronze medal for the Callaghan Valley Training Centre on Day 3 of competition at the cross country ski national championships.  The competition in the Open Men category was boosted by the return of top Canadian skiers from the final World Cup races, but the Callaghan Valley gentlemen improved their performances from Sunday's skate technique event.

While the story of the day was Dandurand's second podium in the Junior Men's event, the rest of the team showed some admirable resolve.  The U23 team of Sebastien Townsend, Geoffrey Richards, Martin Schrama, and Yannick Lapierre finished 7, 8, 9 and 10th in the U23 Men field (respectively).  This was good enough for 26th, 28th, 29th and 33rd overall - showing how well the team has been training together this year.

The rest of the junior men were not far behind Dandurand with Stefan Sander-Green and Colin Ferrie coming in 8th and 9th, respectively.  That was good enough for 38th and 40th overall (Open Men).  Fred Weaver, one of the youngest juniors finished 35th and 101st overall.  Paul Dupuis did not start.

The conditions were warm and slushy - nice for the spring but tough for the 127 starters.  Despite the short distance four athletes were not able to complete the 15km distance for various reasons.
